Washington Women In Need provides grants in four program areas:
How do I Apply?
There are different application procedures, depending on the grant. Please read below for updated information. The next opening dates (dates applications will be available) are:
- Counseling: Counseling grant applications are available every week on Thursdays. If you are interested in a counseling grant, call our office between 10 am to 11 am on a Thursday. If you don’t get through that day, you will be able to try back the next week. On Thursdays only, you may call our offices at 425-451-8838 extension 305 between 10 and 11am. You may need to try more than once.
- Health Care Insurance Premiums: Our Health Insurance Premium Grant is closed. Our next opening for the Health Insurance Premium Grant will be in June 2010. We had this grant open on a rolling basis but due to the increased cost of Health Insurance, we quickly reached our budget. Please check back in May 2010 to see how to apply. No more applications will be dispersed until that time.
- Education: This grant is now closed. January 13 was the last day to download applications for Spring term 2010. If you did apply at that time, please know that we will only contact you if your application was accepted and is being considered. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are not able to contact those whose applications are not being considered. Should your application be considered for the next steps in the application process, we will contact you by February 10, 2010 by telephone.
Applications for the next Education Grant will be available on our website in June or July for the Fall 2010 term. Please check back in the May or June to learn the exact dates. When the applications are next available, you will need to print the application, fill it out, and send it to our offices along with a copy of your financial aid award letter. If you do not have a financial aid award letter by that date, you may still complete the application and send it in however priority will be given to those who send in their completed application WITH their financial aid award letter. The application will have instructions and a deadline for its prompt return. As applications are returned, we will screen you for eligibility. To be considered, you must be enrolled in a program of study in an institution that accepts Federal Financial Aid. This opening is to fund women for Fall 2010 forward. No applications will be dispersed before that time.
- Physical/Dental/Vision/Hearing: This grant will be open March 1st and 2nd. During those two days women interested in receiving the Physical/Dental/Vision/Hearing grant should call 425-451-8838 ext. 307 between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. An informational recording will alert you to leave a message with your name, address, and phone number. After the 2 day opening numbers will be assigned to the messages and a random drawing will be held. Applications with directions for a prompt return will be sent to the women selected in the random drawing. Women should call this line and leave only one message. Multiple messages left from the same caller will be disregarded. Messages left before or after March 1st and 2nd between 9:00AM and 3:00 PM will be disregarded.
