Our Mission
Our vision is to improve the lives of low income women in Washington through financial assistance for health care and education.

This mission drives every aspect of Washington Women In Need (WWIN). We strive to improve the quality of women's lives by supporting their educational goals; we improve the quality of their lives by helping them maintain their physical and mental health. We work to improve the quality of their lives by treating them with dignity and respect in all their encounters with staff, volunteers, and Board members.

We believe that by improving the lives of low income women, we improve the lives of their families and the strength of our community.

When Washington Women In Need was founded in 1992, the founding Board members determined the areas in which there was the most need and the least existing support for low-income women:

Since that time, WWIN has provided financial assistance in these four areas to almost 3,900 low income women and given almost 4,500 grants. This life-changing support is made possible through the vision and generosity of our founder, Julia Pritt, and the donations of over 3,000 individuals, businesses, corporations, foundations, and other service organizations.

WWIN receives no federal or state government funding for its programs. It charges no fee for services. Upon founding WWIN, Ms. Pritt committed to paying 100% of the administrative operating expenses of the organization. This incredible generosity means 100% of your donation goes directly to make grants for low income women.
